    FALL 2008 TINA ZHANG & FRANK ALLEN WORKSHOPS IN DARMSTADT

 

Nov. 26th Wed. Evening:

            Tina Zhang will present “Coiling the Body” - Introduction to Classical Cheng Style Ba Gua Zhang. During this evening workshop Tina will introduce students to the basic movements, focus on technique of coiling the body.  Some specific coiling exercises will be taught in details to help to understand the internal power of Ba Gua Zhang and a good review of the foundations of the art for practitioners as well as the perfect introduction for beginners.

 

Frank Allen will introduce “The 64 Hands Of Liu De Quan”. This set consists of 8 line drills with 8 techniques in each. Although this set passes down through the Cheng Style Ba Gua system, it consists of techniques from Tai Ji and Xing Yi as well as Ba Gua,, because Liu De Quan was the first master of all three Internal Styles. This workshop will be of interest to All Internal Martial Arts practitioners.

 

Nov. 27th & 28th Thurs. & Fri. Evenings:

           Tina Zhang will teach “Earth Qi Gong for Women”.

Nov. 27 – “Feeling deep inside and cultivate internal energy through “Earth Qi Gong for Women”.

            In this evening workshop, Tina will teach how to feel deeper about one’s inner side and how to cultivate the internal energy through these simple Qi Gong motion along with awareness of  8 major acupuncture points when practice.  Learning and reviewing “Earth Qi Gong for Women” for beginners, advanced Qi Gong practitioners, or healing related professionals who like to go deeper practice and detailed understandings.

 

Nov. 28 – “ How to Heal.”  

 

Without doubt, the fact that Tai Ji Quan can benefit to various areas of human being’s health through practicing. The healing aspect of the arts helped so many people physically and mentally become to stronger, happier, and healthier.  In this evening workshop, Tina will focus on teaching the deeper understanding the principles and practical techniques of using Qi  Gong and Tai Ji (Tai Chi) to nurture and heal yourself as well as help to heal others.  Everybody is welcome – man and women, experienced practitioners and beginners!

   

Nov. 27th Thurs. Evening:

Frank Allen will teach the sticking, neutralizing and attacking sensitivity exercise of Ba Gua Zhang, which is known as “Soft Hands or Rou Shou”. This exercise reaches beyond the limits of Tai Ji’s Push hands and a Soft Hands practice raises the martial level of all Internal Arts practitioners while also acting as an explanation of the trademark techniques of the Internal Arts for students of other styles.

 

Nov. 28th Fri. Evening:

Frank Allen will present an overview of the “Old 8 Palms Set” also known as “Lao Ba Zhang”. This is the foundation set of Ba Gua Zhang and a prelude to all other sets of Ba Gua 8 palm changes. Lao Shi Allen will teach the fundamental movement, energy and martial aspects of the set for practitioners and how to teach these aspects for instructors of the set.

  

Nov. 29th Sat. & Nov. 30th Sun.:

We knew you love the details in studying the art of Tai Ji Quan!  

Tina Zhang will present a weekend study of “The Classical Northern Wu Style Tai Ji Quan 83 Posture Form”. This is the most refined of the original Tai Ji Sets and comes down from Ching Dynasty Palace Guard, Quan You, who was the top non-family student of the founder of Yang Style, Yang Lu Chan and the Father of the founder of Modern Wu Style, Wu Jian Quan. A study of this set improves the foundations and refines the techniques of all Wu and Yang Style Tai Ji Quan practitioners.

 

Frank Allen will explore the physical, energetic, and martial aspects of “The 8 Basic Palm Changes of Cheng Style Ba Gua Zhang”. Students will learn how to use the continuous twisting and coiling movements of the Cheng Palm Changes to manifest the energy change patterns and martial techniques of this classical style. Both beginner and intermediate tracks of study will be offered.
